What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at AppleOne?
Dispatchers are the first point of contact for customer requests for transportation services. They are responsible for coordinating with customers for the pickup and delivery of commodities, assigning and tracking drivers, vehicles, and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies.
Essential Duties :
Assign drivers and equipment that are compatible with customer requirements and all regulations.
Establish effective communication and relationships between customers and company personnel.
Ensure assigned drivers meet all regulatory, licensing, and training requirements.
Understand personal protective equipment requirements for loads being dispatched and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
Ensure assigned drivers have all proper documentation for loads being transported.
Report security breaches on company property or equipment in transit.
Maintain confidentiality of all company and customer documentation, processes, and proprietary information.
Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment availability and that it meets standards for loads.
Ensure maximum utilization of equipment and drivers while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure all drivers are dispatched in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
Ensure consistent and efficient reporting of environmental, health-related, and safety incidents.
Obtain all required information for the safe and efficient transportation of commodities.
Requirements :
High School graduate or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to exercise outstanding courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English.
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to changing schedules and unexpected events in a fast-paced environment.
Able to identify and resolve problems promptly and respond effectively to customer needs.
