Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Production Estimator to join our team in the packaging industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating costs and preparing accurate production quotes for packaging products. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to work closely with sales, production, and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer specifications and project requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Calculate material, labor, and production costs for custom packaging solutions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide timely and competitive pricing.
- Work with suppliers to obtain cost-effective raw material pricing.
- Review and update cost estimates based on production efficiency and market fluctuations.
- Ensure estimates align with company profitability and production capabilities.
- Maintain and update estimation databases and pricing models.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities in materials and production processes.
- Assist in developing production schedules based on estimated lead times.
- Provide support in contract negotiations by offering pricing insights.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in production estimating, preferably within the packaging industry.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of packaging materials, printing processes, die-cutting, laminating, and finishing techniques.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, estimating software, and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess complex projects and develop cost-effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
- Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in cost calculations and documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify cost-saving measures and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CAD software for packaging design.
- Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and eco-friendly manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or other industry compliance standards.
