We are currently looking to add a Mold Shop Manager to our team in South Boston, VA. This role is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations and ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Oversee the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of production molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
2. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and increase mold life; troubleshoot mold-related issues and coordinate repairs to prevent disruption.
3. Maintain detailed records of mold usage, repairs, and maintenance history.
4. Supervise, train, and mentor mold technicians, ensuring proper procedures are followed; assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular evaluations of team members.
5. Monitor and optimize workflow, ensuring mold shop operations align with production demands; implement improvements to enhance mold performance and reduce maintenance costs.
6. Research and recommend materials, tools, or techniques to improve mold-making and maintenance processes; collaborate with engineering and production teams to design and modify molds for better efficiency.
7. Enforce all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment; conduct safety training and ensure employees adhere to company policies and industry standards.
8. Maintain inventory of mold components, spare parts, and maintenance supplies; work with procurement to source quality materials and components at the best cost.
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong understanding of mold-making techniques, materials, and maintenance best practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Experience with tooling, CNC machining, welding, and other mold repair processes is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with manufacturing management software.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in mold maintenance, fabrication, or related manufacturing roles
Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
Comfortable working in a manufacturing facility, including exposure to production equipment, materials, and processes.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
