ARA Diagnostic Imaging is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our growing team!

Summary:

Develops, implements and directs the organization’s operations including outpatient imaging centers, hospital services, and all pre-imaging services.  Serves on the Executive Leadership Team to create and carry out strategic initiatives and to advise organizational leadership on patient care, safety, and quality issues.

 Essential Functions:

Provides strategic vision, planning, and evaluation of operational programs and services. Develops and implements department goals, policies and systems to support the strategic plan.  Tracks and reports progress toward goals.

 

  • Determines operations staffing needs. Hires top talent, motivates excellence, sets goals and monitors performance, provides merit pay and rewards, and manages promotions and transfers.  Addresses personnel issues and takes corrective action as needed. Coaches and develops a high performing, customer-focused team.
  • Develops annual budgets to include staff, equipment and services. Monitors expenses, justifies variances, initiates corrections and controls, and demonstrates stewardship.
  • Applies process improvement and quality management principles to assigned areas of responsibility.  Creates, researches and implements best practices. 
  • Leads and participates on company teams and committees to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.  Participates and presents information at executive, management and company meetings.  Represents ARA at external events and develops business contacts.
  • Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest health care trends and developments.

Corporate Operations:

  • Directs outpatient imaging, hospital services, and departmental programs and services including outpatient imaging sites, hospital relations, quality and safety, pre-imaging services, and physician and staff scheduling.
  • Works closely with CEO and CFO in forecasting outpatient revenue and expenses. Ensures financial viability by maintaining systems to control finances and expenses.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting agencies. 
  • Plans and reviews market analysis and research, and conducts negotiations pertaining to potential mergers, joint ventures, acquisitions, and large-scale expansions.
  • Represents the company in its relationships with other healthcare organizations, government agencies, and third-party payers.  Represents and advocates the company to the community.
  • Creates and updates the organizational structure for maximum productivity, quality control and costs.
  • Establishes metrics and monitors company services, systems and facilities for quality, safety and effectiveness.
  • Analyzes data to evaluate productivity, quality, safety, patient satisfaction and other service outcomes. Leads teams to enhance customer service and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Oversees enterprise EMR, patient scheduling and registration and other information system effectiveness.  Coordinates service resolution requests with Information Technology and outside vendors.
  • Monitors compliance of coding, charging, reporting, government regulations and industry requirements.
  • Serves as liaison to outside read clients and provides general liaison responsibilities between hospitals.
  • Consults and assists the CEO in planning, directing and coordinating patient and non-patient care activities.  Advises Board members of service enhancements and problem resolution. Addresses interdepartmental concerns and constructively resolves issues.
  • Monitors and communicates regularly with staff to ensure operational effectiveness, employee satisfaction and engagement, cost containment, high productivity, quality patient care, and superior customer service.
  • Communicates goals, procedures, plans and activities of the organization.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as directed by the CEO.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare preferred.

Experience:

Ten years of experience in a senior management position within a large healthcare organization.

  • Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with personnel and patients, and to establish effective working relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Demonstrates advanced customer service skills and positive attitude in a variety of work settings
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, and presentation software
  • Demonstrates a results' orientation for delivering appropriate products and services in an accurate, complete and timely fashion
  • Must be skilled in written and verbal communications, requiring the ability to read and write effectively and efficiently

Working conditions:

May be exposed to negligible electromagnetic radiation.  Must have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
