Job Description
The Corrections Kitchen Worker is responsible for overseeing the preparation and service of meals to meet production plans.
This role involves training workers in food preparation methods, assigning tasks, and coordinating work to optimize efficiency. The position also requires maintaining facility sanitation and adhering to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely meal service and adhere to Aramark's guidelines.
- Supervise inmates during food preparation and tray assembly.
- Participate in meal preparation and serving.
- Print and distribute recipes.
- Direct inmates on using Aramark recipes and train them on proper cooking procedures.
- Verify portion sizes and special dietary requirements are met.
- Obtain accurate daily population counts and review with staff.
- Adhere to security policies and procedures, ensuring storage areas are locked at all times.
- Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving, storing, and requisitioning food and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Minimum one year of food preparation experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience interacting with inmates is an asset.
- Ability to motivate and supervise inmates/team members to achieve quality and quantity in a correctional work environment.
- Must obtain a food safety certification.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and tact.
- Must follow basic safety procedures and policies.
- Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance.
