The Accountant for our Mission Support Center (MSC) Team at the Archdiocese of Denver works as an extension of the schools or parishes, while providing excellent client service, delivering top-tier accounting services, and collaborating within the team. They will work directly with pastors and principals in up to 5 schools or parishes and collaborate with the Parish Finance team at the Pastoral Center, ensuring parishes receive high-quality, operational support. On our Mission Support Center Team, you will play a key role in building up the Kingdom of Heaven by proclaiming the Gospel and saving souls.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Payment Processing: Ensure timely and accurate payment of bills in alignment with established SLA metrics.
- Deposit Management: Post deposits promptly and precisely to maintain up-to-date financial records.
- Journal Entries: Create and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and financial integrity.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing: Execute all necessary processes, including preparing and posting entries, to ensure smooth period-end closings.
- Accounts Receivable/Payable: Manage AR/AP functions to maintain seamless cash flow and financial accountability.
- Cash and Investment Management: Oversee cash flow and investment activities, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies.
- Fixed Assets Accounting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of fixed assets, including tracking depreciation and asset lifecycle management.
- Retirement Plan Contributions: Review and reconcile quarterly retirement plan contribution reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Tax Compliance: Reconcile Forms 941, W-2, and W-3, and prepare and distribute annual 1099 Forms as necessary.
Financial Reporting: Generate and deliver accurate financial reports for Financial Analysts or parish leadership upon request.
Requirements:What We’re Looking For
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the church and eager to carry out the mission of the Archdiocese to rescue all people in Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father.
- Align with the values and mission of the Catholic Church and possess a willingness to practice human resources from this faithful perspective.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required
- Experience in accounts payable, journal entries and reconciliation
- Provide meaningful support to parishes, building trust and fostering collaboration with a service-oriented approach.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats, ensuring accurate documentation and timely project updates.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, managing multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining financial accuracy.
- Adaptable and proactive, thriving in dynamic environments and applying solution-driven approaches to meet evolving challenges.
- Utilize business acumen, creativity, and GAAP expertise to address financial and operational issues effectively.
- Handle sensitive financial information with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in fast-paced environments to meet deadlines and objectives.
