The Records Manager at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) will support the Base Records Management program in compliance with AFI 33-322 and AFI33-322 / LAAFB Sup paragraph 2.2.7. The Records Manager will collaborate with the Base Records Manager (BRM) and be appointed as the alternate BRM as well as the primary and alternate 61 CS Unit Records Manager (URM). Responsibilities include conducting Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) for each URM at least once every 24 months or upon request, training records professionals within three months of their appointment, and supporting geographically separated units, which may involve occasional travel.
In addition to records management duties, the Records Manager will work with the Space Base Delta 3 (SBD 3) Publications and Forms Manager to develop LAAFB publications, review Base Instructions, and ensure timely processing of forms and publications in compliance with DAFI 90-160 and DAFMAN 90-161. The position also includes privacy and compliance responsibilities, such as monitoring Personally Identifiable Information (PII) breaches, analyzing privacy complaints, and ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
The Records Manager will also assist in managing and maintaining SharePoint sites, ensuring proper content updates, permission structures, and site creation or deletion as needed. This role requires interfacing with various Air Force, Space Force, and federal agencies to determine the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for records and privacy matters.
Requirements :
A bachelor’s degree in information management, records management, or a related field is preferred, along with at least three years of experience in records management, compliance, or information governance within a government or military environment. A Certified Records Manager (CRM) or a similar certification is desirable.
Candidates should have proficiency in Air Force Records Management policies, particularly AFI 33-322, and an understanding of DoD privacy regulations. Experience conducting SAVs, implementing training programs, and performing compliance audits is essential. The role also requires knowledge of Privacy Act and FOIA compliance, along with experience in publishing and forms management under DAFI 90-160 and DAFMAN 90-161.
Technical expertise in SharePoint site management, data organization, and access control is required. The Records Manager must also be capable of conducting PII scans, analyzing security compliance, and coordinating with multiple federal agencies.
Travel may be required to support geographically separated units, though such instances are expected to be infrequent. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance to handle sensitive and classified information as necessary.
