Overview
The Tool Maker is responsible for the accurate, efficient setup of both CNC and manual machinery used in the production of injection molds and injection mold components. Additionally, the Tool Maker will be responsible for the review, recordkeeping, repair and upkeep of existing molds and mold components. The ideal candidate will be highly detail and systems oriented, with the desire to push quality and efficiency to optimal limits. This position focuses exclusively on the physical setup and manipulation of machinery and molds; no CAD design or CAM programming experience is required.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings and work orders to understand machining requirements of molds and mold components
- Efficient and safe operation of the following machinery:
- CNC, HSM Copper/Graphite Mill
- CNC, True 5-Axis Mill
- CNC, 3-Axis Mill
- CNC, Surface Grinder
- Sinker EDM
- Wire EDM
- Micro Welder
- Manual Mill
- Manual Surface Grinder
- Perform routine operator-level maintenance on machinery
- Utilize precision metrology instruments (CMM, digital comparator, calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, etc.) to ensure mold and mold component compliance
- Inspection and repair of damaged molds and mold components
- Detailed record keeping of molds, mold components and tool room consumables via ERP system
Required Qualifications
- High-school diploma or GED equivalent
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Highly detail oriented with the desire to both continually improve existing skills, and learn new skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work as a team cross departmentally and openness to trying new things
- Strong computer literacy
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and maneuver materials up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in Machining or Tool and Die Making
- Hands-on experience in the operation of CNC Machinery and/or Manual Machining
- Understanding of machining processes, tooling selection (cutters, inserts, holders, etc.) and work holding techniques (vises, clamps, fixtures, etc.)
- Basic understanding of G and M-Code
- Experience in interpreting engineering drawings and understanding of GD&T
- Experience with working in a mold-manufacturing environment, and/or with handling molds in an injection molding production environment
Work Environment
This position operates in a climate controlled, clean manufacturing/tool room environment. Exposure to noise, coolants, oils, and moving machinery is common. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and will be provided.

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
