Summary:
Employment Specialist provides training and support to persons with disabilities in developing or enhancing employment skills to obtain/maintain employment with a focus on Competitive Community Employment. Employment Specialist use empathy, organizational and communication skills to connect job seekers with employment opportunities. The Employment Specialist gets to know the person served aspirations and strengths to help them feel more confident and comfortable as they seek a career. The Employment Specialist helps the job seeker gain the necessary training or knowledge to enter their chosen roles. Demonstrate through role modeling (physical, verbal and written) appropriate work habits, behaviors and interactions. Develop and maintain positive rapport with individuals in programming, employers and customers of the agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide appropriate levels of supervision and training to persons served to promote employment, social well being, health and safety in the least restrictive environment.
· Consistent attendance, defined as being present for at least 95% of scheduled weekly duties, is considered an essential function of this position. This level of presence is critical to upholding the quality of care and ensuring that the health care needs of the individuals served are met. Regular attendance supports service continuity, fosters trust, and enables prompt responsiveness to health and support needs. Exception for absences covered through earned paid time off policies
· Will:
o Assist persons served to take public transportation
o Assist with the planning and implantation of daily employment activities, including those that promote social inclusion and building social capital for each person served.
o Follow Arnold Center, Inc. procedures to daily document supports provided to persons served including progress towards skill acquisition, employment goals, health matters, achievements and challenges.
· Attend and participate in all mandated events, workshops, trainings, investigations and meetings,
· Ensure responsible usage of personal and agency resources (vehicles, property, finances),
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned
· Participate in CARF surveys and compliance audits as assigned
· Ability to complete advance training in Job Development and Customized Employment
· Maintain a caseload of vocational program participants; includes service coordination tasks such as coordination of schedules, working with funding sources, ensuring proper authorizations are in place, reporting paperwork, communication with program participants, families, guardians, funding sources and employers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to self-manage schedule to ensure the employment needs of the person served are met, this includes providing employment supports on evenings and weekends for individuals in job development and placement.
· Ability to meet position expectation and outcomes for number of direct service hours provided per week.
· Knowledge of employment training and fading that lead to the inclusion and autonomy of person served at the employment site,
· Ability to gain working knowledge of Arnold Center, Inc. policies and procedures,
· Ability to act as a representative of Arnold Center, Inc. to the public,
· Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff members and individuals from diverse backgrounds,
· Knowledge of acceptable work and safety practices and procedures,
Work Environment:
· Promote safe operations on the job by ensuring person served are following, regulations and procedures
· Noise Level in the work environment is frequently loud
· May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
· May occasionally work in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
· Must be independently ambulatory on all surfaces and situations and move safely about work area.

· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally
· Ability to continuously stand or walk
· Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently

Minimum Requirements:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· High School Diploma
· Able to meet and maintain Arnold Center and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check
· Must be able to successfully complete First Aide Certification, CPR Certification.
· Successfully complete Community Mental Health required training
· Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
