What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Volt Technician position at Arrow Electric?
Role and Responsibilities
This skilled position involves installing, programming, troubleshooting, configuring, commissioning, and servicing audio and video systems at customer sites. This person will organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
Additional duties in this position may include:
- Efficiently pull, terminate, label, and test cables between audio, video, data, and control equipment.
- Running/fishing/terminations of low voltage wiring
- Professional wire Management
- Installation of TVs and TV mounts, in-wall and ceiling speakers, projectors, etc.
- Rack layout and Construction.
- Installation/configuration of system components and equipment.
- Provides technical support as needed for clients and other staff.
- Create and maintain organized installation notes as needed.
- Provides advice and suggestions to staff regarding the preparation and installation of AV materials.
- Facilitates needed equipment repairs, which includes calling vendor for RMA and returning equipment promptly to warehouse for shipment.
- Participates in project kickoff meetings as needed to understand and/or explain scopes of work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Clean installation debris after all service and installation visits.
- Perform full-service test after install or service visit prior to leaving site.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on expierence in high-end residential AV and Automation Systems installations and integration-Control4, Crestron, Lutron.
- Cedia certifications
- Manufacturer training certificates a plus
Preferred Skills
The Audio Video Technician should have experience and skills in the following areas:
- Audio and Video systems experience with Control 4 and Crestron preferred.
- Experience with Lutron Lighting Control; HomeWorks, Radio Ra and Caseta.
- Thorough understanding and experience with Installation from rough-in to final.
- Networking knowledge and experience.
- Rack building experience.
- Programming experience is a plus.
- Alarm System knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Possess the ability to logically troubleshoot and correct system issues.
- Be a self-starter and capable of leading a project from inception to completion.
Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. The field environment will be on construction sites or inside existing buildings. Working conditions can change dramatically from one job to another.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements
- Travel to job sites and customer locations within assigned regions.
- Overnight travel may be required.

Physical Demands
This is largely an active role. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; Requires repetitive movement; climbing ladders, scaffolds, or poles; standing, walking, and running; using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls; and bending or twisting. Some specific demands may include:
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
Additional Notes
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm for construction projects and 8-4:30pm for service projects; Early arrival and/or overtime may be necessary.
