Key Responsibilities:- Under the direction of the CLIA License holder, evaluate laboratory services, personnel performance, and equipment effectiveness.
- Act as a liaison between laboratory services, medical staff, and patients to ensure seamless coordination.
- Assess laboratory utilization and identify strategies to optimize resources.
- Maintain compliance with all policies, including HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Serve as the administrator for laboratory information systems, overseeing LIS operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory system or instrument failures.
- Perform specimen collection and clinical lab testing across various disciplines.
- Review patient reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Monitor operational costs and develop the laboratory budget.
- Lead recruitment, training, and personnel management efforts.
- Provide continuing education for lab and nursing staff performing waived testing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- This position includes supervision of laboratory personnel and operations.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a related field.
- National laboratory certification (ASCP or equivalent).
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Additional two (2) years of supervisory experience in a clinical lab preferred.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of clinical laboratory procedures and healthcare regulations.
- Proficiency in laboratory sciences and related departmental functions.
- Competency in phlebotomy and lab testing techniques.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Advanced computer and laboratory system skills.
- Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership and personnel management experience.
