Job Description
Bay High, Arts and Humanities Focus Program, and Science Focus Program are seeking a shared person to provide counseling in all three buildings.
At Bay High, Arts and Humanities (A&H), and Science Focus Program (SFP), the focus would be on a comprehensive counseling program along with strong collaboration with home attendance school counselors that share the student.
Some specific traits needed for this position:
- Team player (working with school social worker, administration, home school counselors, teachers, and others)
- Strong collaborative lens and skills
- Comfort with mental health triage and clear boundaries
- A passion for working with a wide range of student populations
- Knowledge of post-secondary options and awareness of home high school events (e.g. college fairs)
- A restorative mindset
- Positive person and ability to form positive relationships with students
- Knowledge of graduation requirements
- Organizational skills around academic planning
This person would spend about two days at SFP, two days at A&H, and one day at Bay High, depending on the daily needs of the buildings.
Arts and Humanities and Science Focus Program serve up to 120 students and 5 teaching staff. Both programs have a specific focus area embedded in core graduation requirements and additional opportunities for students to engage in areas of focus. They serve the continuum of different types of learners.
Bay High Focus Program is a partnership between Lincoln Public Schools, The Bay, and several Nebraska businesses. It is hosted at The Bay, an award-winning youth space in Lincoln, and serves up to 100 high school juniors and seniors.
This position is subject to a veterans preference.
