Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations on 2nd shift. Primary focus on ensuring safety protocols are followed, ensuring effective training of the workforce, implementing lean manufacturing principles, driving productivity, and maintaining high quality standards. Training programs, and continuous improvement programs for respective production departments. Develops a highly trained and efficient production organization for the achievement of world class customer service, and factory performance.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
- Ensure all personnel are trained in safety protocols, communicate safety reports, and conduct daily safety checks.
- Effectively communicate expectations and lead by example for safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and attitude/behavior standards.
- Train and mentor production employees to improve individuals’ skills, foster a cross-trained team, and sustain a culture of continuous improvement, while driving accountability.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager in achieving plant goals, including the collection of data, documents, and reporting on results related to Safety, Quality, and Delivery performances on shift.
- Implement and promote lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization, while empowering employees to drive positive changes.
- Collaborate with other shifts and cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Shipping to resolve production issues and drive process improvements.
- Perform administrative duties of personnel following company policies.
- Provide and keep all tools necessary for production in good working order. Purchase tools as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of CNC machines, punch press, and assembly operations.
- Able to work with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experienced with Lean tools including 6S, Kaizen, Natural Work Teams, and Continuous Improvement.
- Strong problem solving methodologies such as 5 whys, 8Ds, A3s, Ishikawa diagrams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety protocols and regulations within a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work independently, be decisive, and a resourceful self starter.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or other related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory/management experience in a lean manufacturing and automation environment.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
