We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Shared Services Payroll team. The Payroll Specialist ensures seamless payroll operations, compliance with laws, and process improvements. You will collaborate with HR, manage comprehensive payroll reporting, and take on impactful special projects. This role is perfect for those passionate about accuracy and problem-solving.
This position will sit onsite in New Haven, CT fulltime reporting into the Senior Manager, Payroll Operations.
What you will do as Payroll Specialist:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, non-exempt laws, and best practices to ensure legal compliance.
- Facilitate audits providing necessary records, ensuring smooth and efficient audit processes.
- Implement best practices around payroll processes and procedures to drive efficiency.
- Analyze payroll issues providing appropriate resolutions to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Document payroll procedures meticulously to maintain clear and comprehensive records.
- Ensure that payroll is processed timely and accurately by maintaining payroll records while adhering SOX compliance per company policy.
- Partner with the HR team to ensure seamless payroll data flow while acting as a point of contact for employees and managers.
- Manage various payroll reports pulling data from various systems when needed.
- Handle special projects assigned such as payroll system implementation.
- Oversee 401k administration, including analysis and funding.
What we are looking for:
- 5 years of hands-on payroll experience, processing multi-site and multi-state payrolls.
- Must be knowledgeable in payroll and accounting principles/procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must lead with a collaborative approach, while working to build relationships with cross-functional departments.
- Ability to maintain data confidentiality, meet hard deadlines, and adapt to change with a proactive, flexible, and creative problem-solving attitude.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is ideal, but not required.
- Experience with ADP (EV5 and/or EV6) System.
- Hands-on experience with time and attendance systems such as e-Time or Workforce Manager preferred.
