We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our HR function, drive organizational effectiveness, and foster a culture of excellence across our hospitals.

Position Overview
The Director of Human Resources will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, training and development, and HR strategy. This role will play a critical part in building and maintaining a positive workplace culture, ensuring HR best practices, and supporting the needs of our veterinary teams. This position is fully remote, with occasional travel required to our hospital locations and veterinary events. This role is one of five current executive leadership positions at the company and participates significantly in strategic decision making for the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company’s mission and business objectives. This role requires proficiency in translating broad visions into actionable strategies and following through to drive employee satisfaction, business growth, operational efficiency, and process consistency across the network. It is important to understand how the HR function impacts other parts of the organization.
- Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, handling workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and veterinary industry-specific regulations.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Oversee recruiting efforts to attract and retain top veterinary and support talent, ensuring a strong employer brand.
- Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance review processes, career development programs, and succession planning.
- Compensation & Benefits: Evaluate and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain employees.
- Culture & Engagement: Promote a strong and cohesive company culture, emphasizing collaboration, well-being, and professional growth.
- HR Operations & Technology: Streamline HR processes, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or another relevant field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of HR leadership experience. Multi-site, multi-state experience is a must. Veterinary or human healthcare experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong leadership acumen, including excellent EQ and the ability to build relationships with other leaders in the organization, including local hospital doctor partners.
- Strong people skills, including conflict resolution. Ability to handle employee issues, workplace concerns, and employee conflicts.
- Demonstrated strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills; ability to report outcomes to leadership and present solutions in a structured way; ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Experience in a remote leadership role with multi-site oversight.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally to hospital locations and veterinary events as needed.
