Job Summary :
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and filing annual, quarterly, and monthly financial statements on GAAP and STAT basis for AssuranceAmerica, a property and casualty (P&C) insurance company. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis of general ledger accounts. File financial statements, premium tax returns, and other compliance filings as required by regulatory agencies according to established deadlines.
Job Responsibilities :
- Prepare the annual, quarterly, and monthly financial statements on a GAAP and STAT basis
- Prepare journal entries and place in the general ledger accounting system specifically related to fixed assets, lease accounting, and tax provision
- Work with external tax partner to prepare tax provision quarterly.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, researching and analyzing activity, resolving issues timely.
- Prepare monthly cash flow statements
- Analyze and provide support for departmental P&L issues.
- Assist with state filings to include premium tax returns and various forms as required by state insurance departments
- Identify and implement process and system improvements.
- Assist with independent and regulatory financial audits.
