Purpose:
As the Lead, Scientific Publications Enablement, you will be integral in defining, maintaining, and improving scientific publication business processes, platforms, and metrics. You must be an expert both within the scientific publications function as well as across various technology platforms to ensure that the tools available to the scientific publications team and external vendors are fit for purpose. Your primary focus will be to drive continuous improvement that enables the scientific publications team to facilitate data disclosure with urgency while also delivering a best-in-class user experience to support external authors and collaborators, and the internal team’s unique needs. You must understand industry best practices as well as emerging technology while applying local regulatory requirements to create a scalable and sustainable global framework that delivers quality and value to both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Platform & Governance Development
Possess and maintain subject matter expertise across scientific publications functional area, technology platforms, and underlying data structure leveraged by MA personnel in order to effectively distill various business needs into sustainable and scalable global solutions as the business process owner (BPO) for scientific publication activities
Identify, define and prioritize user requirements for and continuously improve upon suite of global scientific publications processes and corresponding technology platforms and integrations required to drive data-driven, targeted scientific exchange based on customer preferences (e.g. SOPs, Global Publications Management System, Visualization/Dashboards, etc.)
Leadership
Manage external publication vendor(s) to ensure consistent, compliant worldwide execution of scientific publications, including establishment and maintenance of high-quality standards and quality monitoring plans
Co-lead cross-functional value team to develop enterprise solutions beyond Medical Affairs as applicable and support an innovative approach to demonstrating impact of publication activity as well as facilitating integration with other relevant systems/tools
Change Management
Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with relevant Medical Affairs and other cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. DigitalX, Commercial Capabilities, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, etc.) to align on deliverables impacting their respective areas
Reports directly to Head of Med Comms & Engagement Enablement but works closely with the Head of Scientific Publications & the Scientific Publication team
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health-Related Sciences or Business/Management
Minimum of 7 years in healthcare industry with at least 5 years in Scientific Publications
Excellent understanding of scientific publications platforms, dashboards, analytics, and underlying data structures
Excellent understanding of legal/regulatory/compliance requirements and guidelines with respect to scientific publications in the pharmaceutical industry
Ability to recognize and anticipate problems and create and manage complex projects
Ability to negotiate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously and work within ambiguity
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Breath of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and deliver impactful value
Flexibility to travel on as needed basis, including potentially international travel
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in health-Related Sciences, Computer Science, or Business Administration (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD in Health-Related Sciences or MBA)
Publications vendor management and/or group/team leader experience
Experience in working in cross-functional agile teams
Experience working in a global setting
Experience developing and implementing process/governance (e.g. Business Process Owner) and training guidance related to scientific publications and/or systems
Working Environment:
Compensation Range: $140,000 - $210,000 (NOTE: Final Salary could be more or less, based on experience.
