Job Summary:
The Vineyard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the vineyard, ensuring the health and productivity of grapevines, and maintaining the overall quality of the harvest. This role involves managing a team of workers, coordinating tasks such as planting, pruning, irrigating, and harvesting, and ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently and in compliance with industry best practices.
The Vineyard Supervisor will work closely with the Vineyard Manager and other staff members to implement sustainable farming practices, monitor vine health, and optimize yield quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of viticulture, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality grapes that contribute to the winery’s success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision Duties:
- Become familiar and implement company’s policy, safety requirements established by law and the company, and always enforce safety and work rules.
- Supervise all daily work at assigned ranches.
- With assistance of the Regional Vineyard Manager, develop and implement the farm plan and work schedules (seasonal, monthly, weekly and daily).
- Act as “Ranch Expert” to answer all questions relative to your assigned ranch.
- Plan for and obtain the necessary tools, equipment, vehicles and/or materials before work begins.
- Assign and supervise work as required.
- Be active in the training programs for employees as required.
- Assist the Manager with preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- With the Manager’s assistance, develop and issue employee evaluations.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of employee work records.
- Work with the Vineyard Mechanics to ensure equipment readiness to meet work schedules.
- Direct communication link to all field staff.
- Responsible for keeping the manager informed of pertinent information regarding the ranch.
- Assist with the plan for equipment purchases.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge/Experience: Must have extensive experience and training in vineyard work. Must have a proven ability to supervise employees in regard to meeting the quality, work production and safety standard established by their supervisor. Maintain a good and equal opportunity employment program for all employees in accordance with company policy. Must have experience in the operation of farm equipment. Experience in irrigation systems and pump stations.
Skills: Basic computer skills, and abilities (Word, Excel and Outlook). Must be bilingual in English and Spanish and be literate in communication both verbally and in written form. Must have fun and bring a positive work spirit to the job.
Physical: Able to: travel by car/truck, visit multiple vineyard locations and inside the winery, and walk the vineyards (hillside and flat); work in various weather conditions throughout the year; operate farm equipment for two-hour intervals, stand for four-hour intervals, operate a telephone; lift and carry 50 lbs., work flexible schedules (including early daytime, evenings and weekends). Must be able to pass entrance physical and drug test.
Other: Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state employed, be insurable by the company and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
