Duties
- Conduct thorough audits of medical records to ensure compliance with ICD-9 coding standards and other relevant regulations.
- Review medical billing processes to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze data related to Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) to ensure proper coding and billing practices.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to provide training on coding best practices and documentation requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and industry regulations.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to medical collection and record management.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings and present recommendations for improvement.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical coding, billing, or auditing within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9 codes, DRG systems, and medical records management is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in audits.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
