ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL for Student Services
POSITION OBJECTIVE : To provide leadership to a committed staff and coordinate all student services in compliance with federal and state regulations, and district / building policies and procedures; and to assist all students to achieve academic, social, and personal growth.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Reports to the Principal and works as an active member of the school's Leadership Team in collaborating with fellow administrators and other school personnel to coordinate and monitor appropriate services to students
- Maintains effective channels of communication with staff, students, and families
- Participates in activities for continued professional growth
- Represents the district at professional meetings and conferences
- Provides an active and visible presence in district and school events
Personnel Functions & Duties
Supervises and evaluates teaching and support staffAssists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of personnelInvestigates complaints regarding employee conduct and / or performanceInvestigates employee complaints and grievancesCommunication Duties
Confers with and alerts staff on school problems and needsServes as an active member of the school's administrative team providing solutions to problems as they emergeConveys the special needs or circumstances of individual students to appropriate staffAssists in compliance with Title IX and Title VI guidelines as well as other appropriate federal and state protocolsAssists in the planning and coordination of school / district programsWorks with building leaders and other staff to resolve student, staff and / or family issuesPrepares agendas and minutes of meetingsStudent Services Duties
Monitors student attendanceOversees student disciplineSupervises and oversees student admission procedures into schoolOversees the guidance departmentIn conjunction with the guidance department, develops and manages the building scheduleOversees all standardized testing (MCAS, AP, (P)SAT, etc)Maintenance of Student Records Duties
Compares information or data with other records for verificationSupervises the maintenance of permanent and temporary student recordsMaintains records required by district policySchool Organization Duties :
Maintains administrative records; prepares reports and correspondenceAssists the Principal in the overall administration of the schoolMaintains orderly / safety operations and procedures of the school by coordinating bell schedules, assemblies, campus management, school drills, and the likeApproves field trips and experiential learning experiencesPerforms other duties as assigned by the PrincipalMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Massachusetts Administrative Certificate for Grades 9-12Master's degree in education, or a related services fieldExperience at the high school level as it relates to student discipline; implementation and ensuring compliance with special education; and 504 regulations and legislationExperience with and ensuring compliance with EL (English Learners) populationREQUIRED SKILLS :
