Position Summary:
The Plant Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including personnel development, analyzing bakery operations, ensuring compliance, and assisting with day-to-day operations at our production facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in baking operations, ensuring products meet quality standards. This position reports directly to the Sr. Vice President of Production Operations.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for supporting production team members.
- Determines labor needs to meet production goals.
- Ensures that all products meet defined quality expectations and coordinate with other departments to develop customer-oriented solutions as required.
- Manages equipment and facilities solutions to maximize product quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Analyzes results of bakery operations, determines variances from standard, and takes corrective action as needed.
- Collaborates closely with leadership to ensure all necessary parties are aware of daily plant activities, including absences, schedule coverage and product availability
- Lead the objective of a zero-injury workplace.
- Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal government regulations.
- Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support of the Company’s values and policies.
- Ability to analyze data using various operating systems and programs.
- Coach production facility supervisors to master competencies needed to operate and drive long-term growth.
- Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Six Sigma (DMAIC methodology), Lean (Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, etc.) preferred
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Business, Engineering, Food Science, or technical field) or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- 3 years in management or leadership role.
- 5 or more years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge of bakery operations/processing/formulations
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP systems
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work on unforgiving surfaces and access all areas of operations
- Prolonged periods of exchanged standing/sitting and working on a computer
- Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with many noises and odors
