General Position Description
The Child Care floater reports to the Director/Owner and supports the Director/Owner and Lead by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. The Child Care floater observes and documents children’s interest, progress and relays that information back to parents and staff. The Child Care floater is responsible for assisting with implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Director/Owner or Lead.
Schedule:
Position 1 :
*Friday 10am – 7:00pm;
*Saturday & Sunday 7:00am- -4:00pm
Position 2 :
*Friday 6:00pm – 11:00pm;
*Saturday & Sunday 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Required upon Hire:
- STARS Id Number
- Must have a completed full background check
- Negative TB Test
- First Aid and CPR
- Sleep Safe training
- (BBP) Bloodborne Pathogens training
- WA Food Handlers Card (30 days upon Hire)
- 30hrs Childcare Basics training (must complete within 90 days of hire.)
- Mandatory drug screening upon hire

Key Responsibilities:
- Follow program policies, all facilities policies and state regulations.
- Be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment.
- Assist in the implementation of curriculum activities and encourage participation by children.
- Actively engage in activities, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
- Assist with the preparation, presentation and clean-up of projects/activities such as art projects, stories, songs, outdoor activities and bulletin boards.
- Monitor and make sure children are always safe.
- Model age-appropriate behavior in the classroom and outdoor activities.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene.
- Help ensure a smooth, daily transition from home to childcare facility.
- Assist with the maintenance of a clean, healthy and safe environment that is flexible and supportive to the individual needs of children.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to be flexible
- Attending program and staff meetings/training as required by the Director/Owner.
- Manage cleanliness & required to assist in the cleaning of the facility.
- Complete a yearly minimum of 10 hours of STARS training (required).
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Director/Owner or Lead.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- If enrolled in High School 2.0 gpa must be maintained. (Grade check twice a month.)
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Entry level to - 1 year of professional childcare experience.
- Experience with childrens between the ages of newborn and twelve years old.
- Excellent team work, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of child development.
Pay: $17.85 - $25.85 per hour (DOE)

Physical Requirements
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Must be able to get on and off the floor.
- Be able to lift up to 25 - 50lbs.
