Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Career Readiness Instructor to join our team. This role is integral to our Adult Education Program, which aims to empower adult learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for employment and self-sufficiency. The Career Readiness Instructor will play a key role in planning, implementing, and monitoring workforce classes, and providing work-based learning opportunities to enrolled ESL students through job site tours, campus tours, job readiness seminars, and other exploratory activities.
About the Adult Education Program:
Our mission is to address the diverse needs of our learners by offering a variety of classes including ESL, ABE/ASE, Citizenship, Computer, Career Exploration, Small Business, Culinary Pathways, Paraeducator Pathways, Family Literacy, and Tutoring. We are looking for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor who will support our clients in developing their English language skills to enhance their ability to function within their communities.
Schedule: This position is fully on-site/in-person, working Monday - Friday. There are two options for schedules:
Option #1:
- Paraeducator Pathways at Crawford Elementary (M-TH, 9:00am-11:00am, in-person)
- Construction Pathways (TBD)
- EnGen, WorkKeys & Northstar Workshops (various days/times, online & in-person)
Option #2:
- Home Health Aide Training at A/D Works! and various Denver metro area locations (M-TH, 12:00pm-2:00pm, in-person)
- Small Business Class (M-TH, 6:00pm-8:00pm, online)
- English for Healthcare Jobs Workshop (Friday, 9:00am-11:00am, online)
Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.
- $24.10 - $36.15 hourly
Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and the candidate's fluency.

Employees will receive scheduled earnings on a bi-weekly basis, equivalent to 5% of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), with a maximum amount of $3,000.00 per calendar year. The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full-time equivalency (FTE).
About you.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for and previous experience working with immigrant and refugee populations. You should be comfortable with internet-based computer programs and capable of delivering highly engaging online classes to students. Candidates must have at least two years of teaching experience, focusing on adult education, and prior experience teaching in multi-level/multi-cultural class settings is required. An Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) is a plus but not required to start in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging and student-centered group ESL classes, which include job skills/workforce curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards.
- Integrate civics education into the curriculum.
- Incorporate the use of technology into classroom instruction, including administering a distance learning platform for hybrid learners.
- Use a variety of materials and teaching techniques.
- Teach traditional courses such as Math, Science, Language Arts.
- Monitor students' goals and progress.
- Address learners needs using a variety of resources and approaches.
- Provide support in registration, testing and retention of ESL learners.
- Perform record keeping responsibilities, including tracking and reporting attendance daily.
- Accumulate professional development hours and attend staff meetings, trainings, etc. as requested by the Adult Education Director.
- Schedule monthly tutoring classes with students & volunteers.
- Maintain certification to administer the standardized assessment used by the program.
- Effectively utilize volunteers in class.
- Collaborate with and report to the Director to ensure the smooth functioning of the program.
- Participate in monthly Professional Learning Communities.
- Staff member will complete needed care coordination tasks for their assigned role.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA), or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire.
- Two (2) years of teaching experience with an emphasis on adult education.
- Experience teaching multi-level and multi-cultural classes.
- Experience developing and delivering contextualized ESL instruction and/or integrated education and training.
- Bilingual preferred: English and Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, or Mandarin.
Required Vaccination and TB Test.
