As a Gift Shop Clerk at Ausable Chasm, you'll have the opportunity to work in a vibrant and historic environment, helping visitors find the perfect souvenirs to remember their adventure. Your Mission:
Provide an exceptional shopping experience for guests by delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a welcoming and organized gift shop, and supporting the overall success of the Ausable Chasm team.
What You’ll Do:
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet and assist customers with product inquiries and purchases in a friendly, professional manner.
- Share your knowledge of Ausable Chasm's history, activities, and attractions to enhance the guest experience.
- Operate cash registers, credit card machines, and handheld electronic devices with accuracy and efficiency.
- Handle cash transactions responsibly and balance the register at the end of each shift.
Gift Shop Operations:
- Maintain an inviting and well-organized gift shop by stocking shelves, rotating merchandise, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the Gift Shop Supervisor.
- Assist with setup before opening and ensure proper closing procedures at the end of the day.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with the Gift Shop Supervisor and other departments to meet customer needs and support overall operations.
- Participate in team meetings and training to stay informed and up to date on procedures, promotions, and product knowledge.
- Help train and mentor new team members as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
- Answer customer inquiries in person and over the phone promptly and courteously.
- Adapt to variable workloads and assist in other areas of the attraction as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage and assist a diverse range of guests.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in operating cash registers and handling cash and card transactions.
- Familiarity with Ausable Chasm’s property, activities, and history (training provided).
- A proactive work ethic, even under stress or pressure, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- A professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Ability to oversee projects or manage large groups of customers effectively.
- Experience working in a tourist attraction or outdoor recreation environment.
