Your Mission:
Provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational rafting experience for guests of all ages while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety.
What You’ll Do:
Guest Experience & River Safety:
- Lead guests through an exciting and memorable rafting experience, always ensuring safety and comfort.
- Educate customers about river safety protocols, paddle techniques, and the natural history of Ausable Chasm.
- Monitor guest safety throughout the trip, demonstrating swift and effective decision-making under pressure.
- Perform regular safety checks on equipment, rafts, and personal gear to meet safety standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other guides and managers to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Participate in regular progress meetings to share feedback and improve operations.
- Assist in training new rafting staff, sharing your expertise and insights.
- Maintain communication with fellow guides, crew, and management to coordinate trip logistics.
Ongoing Training & Development:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest swift water rescue techniques and rafting safety protocols.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and participate in drills to hone skills and ensure readiness.
- Continuously improve paddle techniques and group management skills.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance of all rafting equipment and facilities.
- Adapt to varying workloads, assisting other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support company operations.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven ability to manage large groups of guests in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under physical and mental pressure.
- Basic understanding of swift water rescue techniques.
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and follow company policies.
- Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous guiding experience on rivers or in outdoor adventure programs.
- Strong paddle technique and group dynamic skills.
- Certification as a Wilderness First Responder or similar advanced first aid training.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (must be obtained prior to employment).
