Are you an outdoor enthusiast with technical climbing skills and a passion for adventure? At Ausable Chasm, we’re seeking Rappelling Tour Guides to lead thrilling, safe, and memorable experiences for guests at our iconic natural attraction. This role combines technical expertise, guest engagement, and teamwork in a dynamic outdoor setting.
Your Mission:
Provide expert guidance, prioritize safety, and create unforgettable rappelling experiences for groups exploring the breathtaking cliffs of Ausable Chasm.
What You’ll Do:
Lead & Facilitate Rappelling Adventures:
- Guide groups of up to six participants on safe, fun, and engaging rappelling tours.
- Educate participants on equipment use, safety protocols, and rappelling techniques while fostering a supportive environment.
- Conduct thorough pre-tour safety checks of all equipment, anchors, and systems.
- Demonstrate excellent decision-making and risk management skills, prioritizing guest and team safety at all times.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other guides and the Adventure Program Director to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members as needed.
- Attend regular safety and training sessions to stay current with best practices and certifications.
- Support other areas of the Adventure Program during high-demand periods.
Maintain Safety Standards:
- Stay up-to-date with rescue and high-angle safety techniques, including anchor building, haul systems, and multi-pitch climbing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company handbooks.
Administrative & Operational Duties:
- Participate in progress evaluations and team meetings to improve program quality.
- Assist with additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned to support the Adventure Program’s success.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in dynamic environments.
- Proficiency in anchor building, multi-pitch climbing, and high-angle rescue techniques.
- Knowledge of haul systems and advanced climbing safety practices.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to variable workloads.
- Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Effective communication skills to engage with guests and coworkers.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience guiding or leading technical climbing or rappelling tours.
- Strong group management and facilitation skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
