Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Guided Kayak Tours: Provide informative, engaging, and fun kayak tours for guests of all skill levels.
- Safety First: Ensure the safety of all guests by providing clear instructions on kayaking techniques, water safety, and equipment use.
- Customer Service Excellence: Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor throughout the tour.
- Positive Reviews Feedback: Growing tours at ARC require us to build a trustworthy reputation online. Getting 5 Star reviews is a necessity and requirement. We must ask guests after our tours to leave feedback on where they booked so we can grow and learn.
- Interpretation: Share knowledge of the history, ecology, and wildlife of Lady Bird Lake and the surrounding area.
- Equipment Management: Set up, maintain, and inspect kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and other equipment to ensure they are in good condition and ready for use.
- Guest Assistance: Assist guests with launching, docking, and navigating the lake. Provide support to those with limited kayaking experience.
- Group Management: Effectively manage tour groups, ensuring everyone stays together and enjoys a smooth experience.
- Environmental Stewardship: Promote Leave No Trace principles and encourage guests to respect the natural environment.
- Maintenance: Assist with basic upkeep and cleanliness of the equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in kayaking, water sports, or outdoor guiding is a plus, but not required. We’ll train the right candidate!
- Passion for the Outdoors: A love of the outdoors and a desire to share that passion with others.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Must be able to clearly and enthusiastically communicate with guests, answer questions, and give instructions.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to paddle for extended periods and navigate various weather conditions.
- Customer Service: Friendly, approachable, and capable of providing a positive experience for people of all ages and backgrounds.
- CPR/First Aid Certification: Preferred (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Flexible Schedule: Ability to work weekends, holidays, and early morning or late afternoon shifts based on tour schedule.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
