Description

Position Overview

The Estimator will identify and develop new business opportunities while managing client relationships. They will collect and analyze data to estimate the costs of labor, materials, and equipment for fabrication projects. As a key team member, the Estimator collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate project costs and pricing that align with the company’s business objectives. This position requires a self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Domains:

• Lead Development: Identify and pursue new sales opportunities.
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to foster business growth.
• Cost Estimation: Estimate costs of materials, labor, and equipment for various fabrication opportunities.
• Proposal Development: Prepare and present detailed project proposals.
• Proposal Follow-Up: Track and follow up on proposals to ensure timely responses and project progression.

Secondary Domains:

• Project Management: Assist in managing projects from concept to completion, ensuring cost accuracy and client satisfaction.
• Stakeholder Relationship Building: Foster connections with general contractors (GCs), owners, subcontractors, and material vendors.

General Tasks & Duties

• Identify market trends and sales opportunities.
• Perform quantity take-offs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, etc.
• Provide accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Organize and analyze project documents, such as drawings and specifications.
• Review and evaluate project documents, including creating pre-bid Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Participate in "Go/No-Go" decisions for potential projects.
• Visit job sites, customer facilities, and project locations as needed.
• Communicate with vendors/subcontractors to gather pricing information.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams for project planning and execution.
• Prepare and follow up on proposals.

Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proficient in spreadsheet creation and data analysis.
• Strong mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Competent in research, analysis, and report development.
• Familiarity with state and federal construction codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Basic understanding of purchasing processes and record-keeping.
• Knowledge of construction procedures, means, and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings at an intermediate level.
• Experience in using B2W Estimating, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Microsoft Teams/Office, Dropbox, PipeDrive (CRM), and Procore.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Experience or education in project management, construction management, engineering, business, or related fields.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

• Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., mud, snow, ice).

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
