What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician - Automation Controls Assembly position at Automated Motion, Inc.?
The Electrician / Automation Controls Assembler is responsible for executing the robotic system assembly, specifically control panel wiring, electrical assembly, wiring, labeling, electrical component and system turn-up, and some mechanical assembly per the electrical engineering schematics and designs. This individual must be self-driven, competent, skilled, and take pride in quality and workmanship and be able to work in a team environment. Knowledge and prior experience with automation systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Building, wiring, and labeling electrical panels or electrical automation control equipment
- Reading engineering drawings, bills of materials, automation control spec sheets and manuals, and performing duties with limited supervision
- Execute system start up with zero to very few failures
- Support and perform machine assembly and general robotic system installation
- Log all services and report progress to management
- Maintain all equipment and tools in excellent working order
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Work rapidly without compromising quality in order to minimize down times
Work Environment
- Most work is performed in the Automation Motion workplace.
- Travel will be necessary to install and start-up systems at the customer's facility. Overnight travel will be required.
Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational School Diploma, completed apprenticeship, comparable amount of training preferred.
- 5 years as an Industrial Electrician or Automation Controls Electrical technician
- Experience with conveyors, automation equipment, robotics, or servo based machines preferred
- Experience reading wiring drawings, panel schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience creating, assembling, and installing wire harnesses
- Experience building and wiring electrical control panels
- Able to utilize electrical tools, hand tools and power tools
- Solid working knowledge of all code requirements
- Ability and willingness to follow all legal and company safety regulations
- Physical ability to complete this type of work, often in demanding environments
