What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at AUTOMOTIVE PARTS HEADQUARTERS?
The Human Resources Generalist will manage and assist with a variety of daily activities including, but not limited to, staffing, employee relations and engagement, pay-related tasks, and benefits and leave administration while following and enforcing company policies and practices. The individual in this hands-on role will provide guidance and support to managers and employees and participate in other HR related programs and initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
- Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Initiates the electronic onboarding of new hires and follows the onboarding process through to completion
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
Employee Engagement and Relations:
- Acts as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns
- Plans/Supports employee engagement initiatives
- Focuses on employee retention and recognition strategies
- Provides performance management support
General HR Support:
- Assists with HR project initiatives and system and program implementations
- Provides assistance to Payroll and Benefits as needed
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in business or related field required; bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration preferred.
- At least 3 years practical HR generalist experience
- Practical understanding of total rewards, talent acquisition/talent management and employee engagement
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Proficient at utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, HRIS and online vendor portals
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to reconcile and analyze, data
- Experience building and maintaining strong internal and external business relationships
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize needs
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
