Purpose
The Internal Admissions Coordinator represents our facility with area hospitals and other medical professionals, serving as a member of the marketing team and an integral part of our overall team approach.
Qualifications
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
- Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must be familiar with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances.
- Must be able to seek out new methods and principles, incorporating them into existing admission practices.
- Software knowledge includes Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Must understand and stay up-to-date with Federal and State regulations for Skilled Nursing Facilities related to admissions.
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Essential Job Functions
- Assessment of all referrals – communicate with appropriate staff.
- Communicate with case manager/online systems regarding pending referrals.
- Maintain all appropriate documentation on accepted residents, including 3008, PASRR, FL2, and UAI.
- Provide Business Office Manager with financial documentation prior to admission.
- Utilize IRM to track referrals and potential admissions.
- Initiate Admission Notification and Discharge Notification forms upon actual admission/discharge.
- Verify all insurances on potential admissions.
- Obtain authorization and levels for applicable admissions.
- Complete Admission Inquiry Tool.
- Complete admission paperwork within 48 hours of admission.
- Coordinate with family and physician on necessary information required for admission.
- Communicate with external facilities and hospitals on bed availability.
