Position Summary
The Audiovisual (AV) FIeld Service Technician - II is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving audio, video, and control system issues for our clients. You will work directly at customer sites to provide hands-on support, requiring a deep technical understanding of audiovisual (AV) systems, including networking, AV equipment, and related software. With expertise in intermediate-level control system program editing, you'll play a key role in ensuring seamless AV operations for our clients. This position demands a strong background in electronics, computers, and audiovisual (AV) industry best practices, along with excellent communication skills, punctuality, and a focus on detail. Additionally, you'll be tasked with commissioning AV system installations and ensuring the highest quality of service.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must obtain AVIXA CTS and CompTIA A certifications within the first year.
- 4 years of technical AV/IT or field engineering support experience.
- Proficient with Windows and Apple software, as well as common audiovisual (AV) tools.
- Intermediate skills in setting up and color balancing video displays.
- Experience with loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files for systems from manufacturers like AMX, Crestron, Extron, and QSC.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, HTML, and C#, along with experience in digital communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB).
- Knowledge of setting up and adjusting audio/video equipment and audio-conferencing systems.
- Experience with configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and pay close attention to detail.
- Must be comfortable working in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, or humid).
- Flexibility to work according to customer site schedules, including potential weeken
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair integrated AV systems, including video and audio-conferencing setups.
- Configure and troubleshoot DSPs and control systems, including retrieving and loading system code.
- Perform repair work on connectors, cables, and other system components.
- Install and de-install AV system components as needed.
- Provide detailed written documentation on system repairs and follow up on unresolved issues.
- Update technical bulletins and maintain accurate field documentation for all job-related files.
- Offer back-up client support as an Onsite Support Technician when required.
- Conduct training for entry-level AV Service Engineers.
- Provide system training to clients as needed.
- Assist junior technicians with technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and attend necessary safety meetings.
- Maintain certifications and attend training classes as required by management.
Additional Duties:
- Load, test, and edit control code and graphical user interfaces with remote assistance.
- Archive job-related configuration files and programs in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to align with business needs.
