What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at avo?
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting many people processes and administrative tasks as needed. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, onboarding, offboarding, I-9 compliance, employment verifications, employee relations, payroll, People systems administration and internal company reporting.
Additionally, the HR Generalist will serve as liaison between our team members and management team by supporting GMs with recruiting and 1-1 while also responding to various people's inquiries as they are received and escalating serious concerns as appropriate.

Core Job Duties Responsibilities
- Conducts new employee orientations and onboarding processes. Develops and improves current onboarding processes.
- Conducts employee offboarding processes, processing terminations and conducting exit interviews as needed
- Serves as a liaison for ensuring all employee changes and transfers are properly administered
- Supports leaves administration. Acts as the first point of contact for employees with leave related issue
- Supports employee relations concerns and investigations as needed
- Assists employees and management with HR questions, concerns, or requests
- Assists the GMs with employment compliance, including, but not limited to minimum wage, meal and rest breaks, overtime, minor work hours, etc.
- Serves as systems administrator for HRIS, Payroll, I-9 Management, Leaves of absence, and various HR systems and reporting.
- Responds thoughtfully and thoroughly to inquiries to minimize unnecessary follow-up and clarifications.
- Runs regular reports to support needs of multiple departments and initiatives including internal audits for governance and compliance.
- Back up for conducting employee verifications.
- Fosters ongoing relationships with various members of the management and field teams to collaborate on HR related assignments as needed.
- Supports GMs with regular 1-1 with team members.
- Assists with the recruitment and interview process.
- Tracks and manages the payout and eligibility of the Employee Referral program
- Tracks employees birthdays and anniversaries.
- Files and saves documents into appropriate employee files.
- Handles all incoming HR related mail, including garnishments, unemployment and other legal notices
- Supports the processing of annual reports, including but not limited to, EEOC reporting, Workers Compensation and Disability Benefit reporting
- Performs administrative duties as needed.
Desired Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- At least 3-4 years related experience required.
- SHRM-CP, aPHR, or PHR credential preferred.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite or related software.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
- Experience with Toast Payroll is a plus
