What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sexual Assault Services Response Coordinator position at AWARE Inc.?
This position is responsible for developing and implementing the agency response to sexual assault crimes, including coordinating SART efforts in Jackson County. The position is considered the center of gravity when it comes to ensuring that survivors receive appropriate and responsive care from all members of the SART team. Preferred previous experience working in the sexual assault movement or sexual assault program.
Key Functions:
- Provide high-quality services that reflect agency mission and goals.
- Conduct case management for survivors of sexual assault from initial response to resolution and ensure 24-hour response by working with crisis response volunteers and advocacy staff.
- Provide appropriate referral for crisis counseling, follow-up, advocacy, and accompaniment services.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with law enforcement, medical personnel, MDOC, and other community professionals to ensure successful delivery of services to clients.
- Develop and maintain a sustainable SART program to improve services survivors of sexual assault and coordinate and lead monthly Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) meetings.
- Represent AWARE at community events and serve as agency liaison to community groups and task forces, including legal, medical, educational, and social service agencies.
- Work with medical service providers to enhance SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) services.
- Lead organization efforts to devise strategies to reach survivors, especially those from marginalized communities, and those at high risk for sexual assault.
- Assist in developing guidelines and procedures for the agency and SART to serve survivors of sexual assault.
- Provide awareness and training to community members, human service professionals and individuals on the issue sexual violence, and AWARE services.
- Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork, mutual respect and empowerment among staff and volunteers.
- Engage with community partnerships. Develop MOU when working relationships are present.

Pay: $35,790.00 - $45,000.00 per year
