Interim RN Director of Infection Prevention

AZAD is seeking an Interim RN Director of Infection Prevention for a W2 Contract position based in Van Nuys, California.

Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday
Assignment Duration: 6 Months
Compensation & Benefits: Between $725 - $750 daily rate, plus daily stipends (7 days/week) including $183 Lodging, $74 Meals, and $50 Auto/Transportation. Weekly Compensation (including stipends) between $5,774 - $5,899. Benefits include Paid Sick Time, Paid Holiday, Co-paid Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Cafeteria Plan, and 401k.

Position Summary:

The Interim Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for leading and overseeing the infection prevention and control (IPC) program within the facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, implements evidence-based practices, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and enhance patient safety. The interim leader will provide expert guidance during the transition period and assist in recruiting a permanent director if necessary.

Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with CDC, OSHA, The Joint Commission, and state/federal regulations.

Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), analyze trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Lead infection control risk assessments and ensure facility-wide compliance with infection prevention protocols.

Provide education and training to clinical and non-clinical staff on infection prevention and control best practices.

Oversee outbreak investigations and coordinate response efforts with local, state, and federal health agencies.

Collaborate with hospital leadership, quality improvement teams, and frontline staff to enhance infection control strategies.

Ensure proper implementation and utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), sterilization techniques, and hand hygiene compliance.

Participate in committees related to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Serve as a subject matter expert in infection prevention for hospital leadership and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or a related field preferred.

Certification in Infection Control preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in infection prevention and control within a healthcare setting.
