Team Member – Tahoe Bowl

POSITION TITLE: Team Member

PAY: $16.00/hour Tips

DEPARTMENT: Tahoe Bowl

REPORTS TO: Resort Upsell Manager

DATE: June 2023

Job Objective:

Provide professional, responsive customer success to create an exceptional experience for all of our Guests. The Team Member position at Tahoe Bowl is all encompassing of the Entertainment Bowl, Sports Bar, Pizzeria Restaurant and Mechanical Building businesses. Therefore, the Team Member will be trained in all businesses unless the Team Member’s age restricts certain departments, mainly the Bar due to California Liquor Licensing Laws and Regulations.

If in the Entertainment Bowl: The Team Member will greet Guests coming into Tahoe Bowl and answer any business phone calls and questions. The Team Member will take payments, place all receipts on clip board (separate Employee discount receipts that are printed, signed and dated as well as enter the Employee name on the POS system during the transaction payment) in order of transaction number, close till, settle batch, place Guests on lanes or on waitlist, manage lanes (respond to any service calls, chase lane problems, address score corrections), assist Guests with shoe rentals, disinfect and untie returned shoes and place untied shoes back in proper stocking areas. All Team Members are required to keep all the workstations and the entire Bowling Center clean, safe and ready for guests at all times.

If in the Pizzeria Restaurant: Team Members will take orders, prepare all menu items, serve, run and bus. Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils and wash and clean dishes.

If in the Sports Bar: The Team Member will take orders and prepare all beverages. Mix, pour and prepare a variety of alcoholic traditional and creative cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages using a variety of equipment, utensils and methods. The Bartender is required to keep all the workstations and the entire kitchens and Guest Floor Seating areas clean, safe and ready for Guests at all times, verify ID and age requirements of customers, process payment from customers, clean glasses and bar utensils.

If in the Mechanical Maintenance: Team Members ensure that all pinsetters and all other equipment in need of repair or preventative maintenance are being repaired/maintained and that the building, including all furniture, fixtures, electronics, exterior, parking lot/grounds are being repaired/maintained and that they are kept clean and safe of hazards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by Team Members assigned to this classification. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

  • Follow all CA ABC Laws and CA Health Food Laws.
  • Counting Cash Till in and out for shifts. Cash handling is a vital part of the responsibilities of all Team Members. Improper cash handling is not tolerated as this could be deemed theft from the company or Guest. All cash tills must be at the exact dollar amount required when opening or closing a shift and there should be neither Customers nor non-employees inside the building (unless a double shift switch is happening mid-day). These till amounts will be set forth by Management.
  • Record cash tips and card tips in the Daily Tip Sheet located inside the binder.
  • Do not give maintenance to bowlers for extra time unless a real maintenance issue arises and must stay within the 10 minutes time (ideally). Comp Time for finishing last frame is maximum 10 minutes (really).
  • Assist Management in preparing weekly and monthly orders in all departments, including, but not limited to, Restaurant Supplies/Food, Bar Supplies/Beverages, Front Desk/Bowling Center supplies, pinsetter parts, lane machine parts, lane cleaning and oiling products, building maintenance items such as light bulbs and cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Perform all necessary repairs and preventative maintenance to lanes, ball lifts, masking units, untangling, etc. Perform any, and all, repairs or preventative maintenance daily including, but not limited to checking, and all other mechanical items.
  • Maintain all maintenance and storage areas. Keep lane storage room, parts storage room 1 and 2, maintenance shop, janitor’s closet, behind pinsetters, and all other storage/maintenance areas clean and safe. Ensure that all pins, parts, tools, etc. are picked up, then cleaned and placed back in their proper areas. Remove trash from all maintenance areas a minimum of once per day or more as needed.
  • Greet all Guests. Answer any questions the Guests may have regarding prices, specials, ingredients, etc.
  • Prepare all products for the shift or full day of business in all three businesses: Entertainment Bowl, Sports Bar and Pizzeria Restaurant. This could and does include: cutting/chopping all vegetables, portioning of all products such as chicken wings/tenders, filling empty prep/make line bins, stocking refrigerators, prepping ovens, putting incoming orders away with proper arrival dates using a sharpie pen, thawing any frozen product needed for the day, ensuring that all products are labeled appropriately, prepping garnishments, ice bins, oiling lanes, making sure that floors and approaches are clean and safe, making sure the scoring computer system is rebooted, all needed reports are printed out, cleaning pinsetters and approaches, etc.
  • Answer business phones, answer questions, take food and drink orders, assign lanes, hand out rental shoes, help program names or make score corrections.
  • Clean and bus Guest areas and sanitize shoes, glassware, utensils, plates, cookware, etc. In addition, all workstations must be kept clean and organized.
  • Prepare and cook all incoming orders in a timely fashion. All Team Members must ensure to take notes on special requests on tickets and ensure accuracy of orders.
  • Deliver orders. Ensuring accuracy of order delivery is vital to customer service and experience.
  • Frequently check on customers, especially after food or drink has been delivered.
  • Bus tables, counters, lanes, etc. Whenever there is a free moment check on all Guests to see if they need anything or if there are any vacant or occupied tables in need of cleaning. Be sure to remove all dirty dishes NOT just your department's dishes.
  • Washing dishes. Keep dishes clean and sanitized as per the Health and Safety Code Requirements and turn off any running water so there are no drips as well as clean any food debris from Kitchen floors or walls.
  • Making dough. Part of running any restaurant is good quality food. Tahoe Bowl makes fresh homemade dough that is prepared daily and routinely. All dough must be made exactly as the recipe requires, which is posted on the Kitchen wall.
  • Rolling and storing dough is also another vital part of the dough making process. All dough should be stored properly and at the correct temperatures. Always ensure that dough is allowed to rise per the recipe and is stored in the proper containers at the correct temperatures per County Health Requirements.
  • Keep all workstations, guest areas and entire bowling center clean and presentable at all times. Sweep and mop floors regularly, clean tables and counters, bus tables and counters, put bowling equipment back in the proper area, wipe down chairs, etc.
  • Multiple times per shift be sure to clean and confirm that all refrigerators and freezers are running at the proper required storage temperatures as deemed by County and State Health Codes and Regulations is a requirement of all Team Members. If a Team Member notices that a refrigerator or freezer is not maintaining the correct temperatures, they should immediately investigate the situation and inform Management.
  • All Team Members must assist with the daily cleaning requirements and all the other duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, putting bowling equipment away, taking out trash, etc.
  • Clean lanes, settee areas, and ball returns of any balls or shoes left behind. Putting all bowling balls back on the ball racks and ensuring that all tables, ball returns, keypads, counters, and floors are clean and presentable to the next group going onto the lanes.
  • Perform minor repairs to pinsetters and lanes. Includes cleaning all caps, gutters, subway tracks, replacing belts, etc.
  • Assisting management and all other staff in keeping Tahoe Bowl clean including bi-annual deep cleaning of settees, kitchen, bar, and bathrooms. Also, cleaning and restocking all bathrooms, storage facilities, outside areas, etc.
  • Maintain reports, paperwork, cash tills, tip sheets, menus, etc.

First and foremost, Tahoe Bowl is a customer success business. All Team Leads and Members must always treat customers with respect and gratitude for their patronage and help wherever necessary.

Team Member absences are an unfortunate part of business as people get sick, and emergencies happen. All Team Members are expected to cover any staff shortage via Homebase and Gusto to ensure that all of our customers receive the experience they deserve when coming into Tahoe Bowl.

As a member of the Tahoe Bowl Team every member is expected to treat all guests with respect.

If issues arise with customers, equipment, or facilities; Tahoe Bowl Team Members should use all tools that they possess to the best of their abilities prior to taking the issue(s) to the next level such as informing their management.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Experience.

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of progressive experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills required. Attention to detail and follow through is essential.
  • Must have strong POS computer skills.
  • Knowledge of pizzeria restaurant, sports bar, entertainment bowl operations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of all state and Federal Health and Safety Standards and Regulations.
  • Must obtain California ABC RBS Alcohol Certification.
  • Must obtain California Food Handlers Certification before start date.
  • Must have valid State Driver’s License or State ID Card or Passport/Visa.

Physical Skills

Must possess the ability to lift 30 pounds and move about property promptly and with ease. Frequent bending and reaching is required. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Proper posture while using tools, computer and office equipment is necessary.

Miscellaneous Functions and Projects:

Assists Management.

Assists all other Tahoe Bowl Team Leads and Members in any duties necessary.

Miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by Management that may or may not fall within the description outlined and may be in addition to these duties.
