BOS Security is currently seeking applicants from existing personnel performing Security Training Instructor services at Sonoma County Airport (STS).

The Opportunity:
Advance your career as a Security Training Instructor (STI) at Sonoma County Airport (STS).
The Security Training Instructor (STI) is responsible for maintaining screening awareness and technical proficiency to provide instruction. STIs manage and deliver training materials and communicate with supervisors about any training issues that may indicate weaknesses or vulnerabilities in security screening.
An STI must have completed TSA screener training and initial certification courses to be qualified. Additionally, they must meet all TSA Train-the-Trainer and specific course certification requirements before delivering TSA training.
- The individual works independently, leveraging their developed experience to fulfill duties associated with the Security Training Instructor Program. Most tasks are completed without needing to escalate issues to a superior, demonstrating sound judgment.
- Training instruction is performed within established guidelines and standards, supporting nationally developed training programs, while national training protocols are customized to meet local needs.
- The role includes supporting recurrent training needs and conducting return to duty and remediation training. Administrative support, such as OLC entry test administration and classroom assistance, is also provided.
- Oversight is given to collateral duty ATIs, conducting Quality Assessments where necessary. The individual manages classroom dynamics, coordinates required support and materials, and monitors and evaluates training, providing feedback and corrective actions as needed.
- Maintaining communication with management and supervisors regarding training issues is essential, particularly when such issues may expose screening weaknesses or security vulnerabilities.
- The role involves continuous improvement of security screening processes and personal performance through ongoing training and development. Additionally, the individual performs pre-board security screening of individuals’ carry-on and checked baggage to maintain certification requirements at least 20% of the time.
Requirements:
Current Certification as a DHS/TSA Security Training Instructor (STI)
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO).
Minimum 2 years of adult-learning classroom instruction
