Overview:
The Chef is to lead the culinary experience and vision for Back Unturned Brewing Co with. The chef is to create, lead and execute to maintain and grow the reputation for Back Unturned Brewing Co. We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated, creative, organized, clean and great leader for our kitchen.
The overall goal is to lead, grow and help the community through the message of Back Unturned Brewing Co. “The dream I didn’t turn my back on”
Responsibilities
- Leadership skills- unite the team, build people up, create and maintain the company culture through the installed core values.
- Supervise Cooks and assist as needed
- Delegate tasks to kitchen staff
- Create the menu, execute and train the kitchen to deliver exceptional food for our guests
- Ensure appealing plate presentation
- Recipe development to keep Back Unturned innovative and relevant
- Assist the Kitchen Manager in their duties and set them up for success.
- Food ordering- most cost effective for example- PFG, Restaurant Depot, HEB, etc. to ensure effective food cost. Bonus structure will be an incentive
- Run kitchen effectively to include but not limited to inventory, prep sheets, updated & organized recipe book, standard operating procedures, and checklists to maintain a simple yet effective kitchen.
- Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans, and kitchen scales
- Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
- Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen are
Requirements
- Leadership skills- Must lead by example, creative a positive work environment and uplift people.
- Proven work experience as a Chef creating and executing
- Attitude is most important- positive, creative and a great work ethic.
- Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
- Excellent time management abilities
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations
- The ability to manage a team of cooks
- Holds high standards for the culinary team
- Enhance our menu and showcase new creative items
- Customer service- interact with customers should customer have compliments or complaints.
- Organization skills
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work under extreme pressure. ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
- The ability to communicate in a fast-moving environment
- The ability to make good food consistently, even in a busy kitchen
- Hiring new kitchen staff
- Communicate effectively and clearly with all team members including the owner.
- Reports to the General Manager and Owner.
- Can handle criticism
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
