We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team at Bald Hill Builders, a leading general contractor specializing in Affordable Housing, Education, Healthcare and Commercial construction projects. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and driving strategic growth initiatives.

The Business Development Manager must be professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in improving client experiences (“Building a Better Experience”). The individual in this position plays a key role in setting the tone for the Company. As the first and last person clients see, the Business Development Manager is instrumental in making sure clients have a positive experience that exceeds their expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Strategy
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, market trends, and potential clients
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability
- Monitor competitor activity and adjust strategies accordingly
- Continuously evaluate (SWOT) target geography/market sectors to stay up to date on trends and opportunities
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, architects, engineers, and industry stakeholders
- Represent the company at networking events, trade shows, and industry functions
- Work with the operations team(s) to ensure all aspects of the company deliver extraordinary and consistent client service
Lead Generation & Sales
- Work with the Marketing Manager in developing branding, placement and collateral to gain optimal visibility
- Generate qualified leads through cold calling, referrals, online research, and networking.
- Prepare proposals, RFP responses, and presentations to secure new projects
- Collaborate with estimators and project managers to develop competitive bids and proposals
- Identify gaps in pipeline and source opportunities to ensure steady workflow
- Support the team in identifying qualified opportunities through the development of strategic relationships with architects, developers, owners and owner project managers (OPMs)
- Facilitate the Go/No Go analysis/decision through a firm understanding of the opportunity value and fit for BHB model
- Complete Project Intake Form and present to team with pros/cons of project and recommend accordingly
Partnership Development
- Cultivate partnerships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to support business development efforts
- Work with internal teams to ensure alignment between sales goals and project delivery capabilities
Reporting & Forecasting
- Track business development activities and maintain accurate records in CRM software
- Provide regular reports and updates on sales pipelines, opportunities, and KPIs to senior leadership
Teamwork
- Assist in the proposal process and determine the correct resources and timing of deliverables to keep the proposal on track.
- Contribute to the content of proposals and interviews by working closely with marketing, estimating and operations.
- In partnership with Operational Leads, analyze and emphasize key success factors and prepare interview team for a successful interview experience
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- 5 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably in the construction or general contracting industry
- Strong network of industry contacts and proven track record of winning construction projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic understanding of construction processes
- Experience in the following market sectors is preferred: Affordable Housing, Multi-Family, Senior Care, Education and Healthcare.
