Job Summary:The Director of Marketing will oversee, coordinate, create and participate in the development of marketing strategies and products for Ballyhoo Hospitality. Ballyhoo Hospitality owns and operates multiple restaurants in the Chicago area. This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communication initiatives that drive brand awareness, guest engagement, and revenue growth for Ballyhoo Hospitality and its restaurant brands. This role oversees and participates in all marketing channels, including digital, social media, email, website management, and in-store promotions.
Daily Responsibilities (Non-Negotiable):- Email Management: Overseeing, creating, and executing targeted marketing campaigns.
- Website Management: Directing the creation, maintenance, and updates of company websites.
- In-Store Promotional Content: Designing and producing collateral materials using graphic software.
- New Store Marketing Strategies: Developing and executing marketing plans for new locations.
- Department Oversight: Managing the daily workflow and responsibilities of the marketing team.
- Social Media Management: Creating, curating, and overseeing content across all platforms.
- Community Outreach: Organizing and executing initiatives to engage with the local community.
- Internal Communication: Collaborating with various management teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
- Oversee and manage both internal and external teams, ensuring project completion and efficiency.
- Provide leadership in the daily workflow and overall direction of the marketing department.
- Conduct constructive and timely evaluations when directly supervising team members and agency partners..
- Direct and implement the organization’s advertising and promotional activities.
- Analyze target market data to identify and recommend effective marketing strategies.

Education and Experience:

Director of Marketing & Marketing Department – Specific Duties
1. Advertising & Guest Engagement
- Manage creative spends for print advertising, including point-of-sale materials, wayfinding, and traditional media.
- Media spends vary per restaurant but including social media advertising, print advertising, and coordination with vendors.
- Create and coordinate media placements as needed.
- Oversee email marketing campaigns (~52 per year) and associated technology platforms.
- CRM database management and creative development of email marketing
- Manage incoming donation requests across all locations, respond to inquiries, issue donation certificates, and track documentation.
- Collaborate with the executive team to vet larger sponsorships and manage details such as signage, ads, and follow-through with partners.
- Oversee Ballyhoo’s “Dine & Donate” program, including outreach, logistics, and payment coordination.
- Maintain relationships with community organizations, including Chambers of Commerce, tourism bureaus, and local business associations.
- Keep memberships current and ensure restaurant locations remain engaged with local events and initiatives.
- Update and maintain a community outreach list, including key contacts for hotels, residential buildings, and local businesses.
- Facilitate partnerships with like-minded businesses for promotional opportunities.
- Plan, organize, and execute off-site and on-site events, including securing participation, staffing, logistics, and post-event analysis.
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Maintain an event recap archive to evaluate ROI and plan future participation.
- Lead planning and execution of Ballyhoo’s signature and ticketed events, such as:
- On-Site Events: Wine dinners, seasonal ticketed events, promotional gatherings.
- Off-Site Events: Local festivals, gourmet food events, community block parties, and sponsorship-driven activities.
- Oversee all Ballyhoo Hospitality websites and ensure content remains current.
- Direct web designers to implement updates, manage menu uploads, and optimize pages for brand visibility.
- Maintain pop-ups, announcements, press links, and executive team updates.
- Manage and update Google, Yelp, Resy, Culinary Agents, and other third-party platforms for all locations.
- Create and manage online event listings and maintain restaurant bios, logos, and descriptions.
- Monitor and respond to customer reviews to ensure strong brand reputation.
- Develop and oversee marketing strategies at both brand and restaurant-specific levels.
- Regularly analyze ROI from marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, social boosts, and media spends.
- Evaluate event and promotion performance in collaboration with restaurant and operations teams.
- Manage 11 unique Instagram accounts, plus Facebook pages.
- Create and engage with content, including photos, videos, reels, and stories.
- Monitor performance analytics and manage influencer partnerships.
- Organize and maintain an internal content library (SmugMug) for all restaurant brands.
- Design menus, marketing collateral, signage, and promotional materials for all restaurant locations.
- Manage external signage projects for new restaurant openings.
- Maintain brand consistency across all digital and print materials.
- Develop brand kits for new restaurant concepts and update materials for existing brands.
- Oversee PR and media agency relationships, ensuring consistent press and media coverage.
- Work with agencies to execute brand strategies and media placements.
- Manage relationships with photographers and videographers for content creation.
- Facilitate on-site photoshoots for branding, menu launches, and restaurant openings.
- Serve as IT liaison for marketing-related technology needs.
