Position Summary
Bancroft School is seeking a passionate and skilled Lower School Spanish Teacher to teach students in grades 1-4, effective immediately. This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week) designed to introduce young learners to the Spanish language while fostering cultural awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Spanish to students in grades 1-4, creating an engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Develop and implement a dynamic age-appropriate curriculum, ideally using a Comprehensible Input (CI) approach to language instruction.
- Foster students’ curiosity about different cultures and support their early language acquisition.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Spanish language learning into the broader Lower School curriculum.
- Communicate regularly with families about students’ progress and classroom experiences.
- Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written); native speakers preferred but not required.
- Teaching experience at the elementary level and a strong background in the Spanish language.
- Passion for working with young children and making language learning engaging and accessible.
- Ability to create and adapt curriculum that aligns with best practices in early language acquisition.
