POSITION OVERVIEW :
This position services, maintains, and installs switchboard electrical apparatus, substation equipment, supervisory control equipment, Bangor Underground Distribution, URD, revenue metering equipment, and Tele-communication equipment. Also performs the installation, change-out, removal, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting of all types of self contained watt hour metering systems, transformer rated watt hour metering systems, instrument transformers used for metering, and watt hour recording systems such solid state pulse recorders. Performs tasks related to the Company's Revenue Protection Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the Safety procedures and performs the work accordingly.
- Responsible for proper use, operation and maintenance of tools, test equipment and vehicles assigned to the job.
- Perform all duties of the lower rated jobs in the Power System Tech. job progression
- Assist in the training of employees in lower classifications
- Installs, maintains and troubleshoots all meter connected telecommunication systems.
- Maintains working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local ordinances where applicable with respect to the installation of electric meters and service entrances and related equipment and to locate and inspect service installations for conformity to these regulations.
- Ability to work with and read electrical diagrams
- Assists with the installation, maintenance, and testing of revenue metering systems.
- Discusses metering installations and related equipment with customers, engineers and contractors, as required.
- Works with and coordinates with Division personnel to assure continuity of job completion.
- Install and wire switchboard equipment.
- Install and maintain underground ducts, cables, transformers, switches, etc.
- Erect substations and install equipment.
- Repair and adjust regulators, switches, transformers and other electrical equipment.
- Test and filter transformer, regulator and switch oil.
- Paint transformers, regulators, switch houses, steel structures, etc.
- May act as Power Technician Lead Worker during sickness, vacations, and leave of regular Lead Worker.
- Prepares and maintains, in an accurate and legible manner, the necessary records in connection with the work, including Cascade Data Base work orders
- Perform Switching & Tagging duties throughout all of the Company's transmission & distribution service territory.
- May assist in performing maintenance and troubleshooting on the company's diesel engines and engine control schemes.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the Company's Standard Requirements for "Electric Service and Meter Installations", Metering Construction Standards, and Field Operating Procedures pertaining to the assignment.
- Provide support services and job oversight for external service providers performing maintenance and capital work throughout the Company's service territory.
- Remains familiar with the Company's industrial, commercial and residential rates, handle customer inquiries relative to electric service high bill complaints, and deal courteously with all customers.
- Performs work associated with the Company's Revenue Protection Program, and adheres to confidentiality requirements.
- Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Other related duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with System Restoration. This includes the workforce flexibility model requirements as agreed upon with the Collective Bargaining representative.

WORKING SCHEDULE :
The normal work week is Monday through Friday; the normal work schedule is from 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Flexible work hours may be required in accordance with the provisions of Article V, Section 5 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Overtime may be required.
RATE OF PAY :
Rate of pay is in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
