Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Ophthalmic Scribe/Tester/Technician to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced medical environment. The Ophthalmic Scribe/Tester/Technician will work closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to document patient encounters, ensuring accurate and comprehensive medical records. This role is crucial in enhancing patient care and streamlining clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient history, examination findings, and treatment plans during patient visits.
- Assist ophthalmologists in the examination room by recording relevant clinical information.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Epic, to maintain and update medical records efficiently.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to medical terminology standards and complies with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with clinic staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and improve overall clinic efficiency.
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to accurately capture clinical details.
- Support the clinic's sales initiatives by understanding retail math related to ophthalmic products.
- Working up patients by checking medical history, chief complaint, entering and updating medications, allergies, surgeries at every visit. Checking visual acuity, reading glasses prescriptions, checking eye pressure, instilling drops, checking manifest refraction, checking eye muscles, confrontational visual fields and assessing pupil response.
- Visual Field testing, Argos, IOL Master, Pentacam, and OCT testing.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of retail math concepts related to ophthalmic sales is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
