What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls System (Smart Connected Factory) Intern position at Barnes Group?
Position Details:
1st Shift Monday-Friday
Core Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Health, Safety & Environmental, IT and Facility organizations on various assignments;
- Support the site integration to include continuous monitoring, alarm and automation & building process and support systems;
- Source, install and program electronic work stations, human machine interfaces and IOT eligible devices;
- Develop graphics for monitoring and control of various devices;
- Support the data collection, historization and representation of trending data points;
- Collect, validate, and organize operational or environmental data, as well as develop plans for improvement;
- Help identify deficiencies in day-to-day operations & develop integrated control plans;
- Perform all tasks in accordance with company HSE policies ;
- Complete internship projects and present findings to leadership;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to schedule and organize time and tasks effectively
· Ability to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment
- Familiarity with EWS/HMI ( Allen Bradley) or similar;
- Ability to read an IO Loop Sheet or PI&D sheets;
· Familiarity with DCS/SCADA (Ignition, GE iFix, ABB S ) preferred;
- Familiarity with RSLogix or other ladder logic software preferred.
Education Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED required
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university as a rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Preferably Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Manufacturing, or Industrial focus) or Management/Business
