Anticipated Opening - Position is contingent on funding and student enrollment
Summer Program: Bartlett School & Assessment Center - Grades K-12
Dates/Hours:
June 30th - August 7th (19 days total)
Monday - Thursday
7:45 am - 2:15 pm
Subject to change based on student enrollment; start and stop times
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Summer Coordinator and/or the Executive Director of Student Support Services and/or his/her designee
Statement of Duties:
- Provide counseling and support to designated special needs students and their families.
- Provide individual and group counseling to designated special needs students as stated on their educational plans.
- Conduct home visits as requested.
- Participate in crisis intervention.
- Consult on a regular basis with classroom teachers regarding special needs students.
- Establish lines of communication and a good working relationship with area human service agencies.
- Coordinate with the Supervisor of Attendance in regard to CHINS petitions, 51A’s, etc.
- Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Director of Special Education, the Building Principal, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education -required
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling – preferred
- Ability to provide individual and small group counseling to the school-age population.
- Ability to work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to conduct home visits and to write developmental histories.
- Knowledge of special education programs and laws.
- Knowledge of area mental health services.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
