What You'll Do

Under the general supervision of the Logistics Team Leader, the Patient Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the safe and timely transfer of patients between healthcare facilities, including determining patient needs, arranging transportation with appropriate medical personnel, coordinating communication between referring and receiving healthcare providers, ensuring appropriate bed placement, and managing the transfer process from initial contact to patient arrival, all while prioritizing patient safety and quality of care.

• Patient Assessment and Coordination:
• Receive patient transfer requests, evaluate medical history, current condition, and required level of care for transport
• Contact receiving healthcare facilities to confirm bed availability, clinical needs, and necessary documentation
• Determine appropriate transport mode (ground ambulance, air ambulance, specialized transport) based on patient condition and distance
• Transport Logistics:
• Schedule transport times with designated transport providers, ensuring timely arrival and departure
• Coordinate with medical staff at sending and receiving facilities to facilitate smooth patient handoff
• Monitor transport progress, addressing any unexpected issues or delays during transit
• Communication and Documentation:
• Maintain clear and concise communication with all involved parties, including physicians, nurses, transport teams, and administrative staff
• Accurately document patient information, transport details, and any pertinent medical updates in electronic health records
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines for interfacility patient transport
• Quality Assurance and Improvement:
• Monitor transport data to identify potential areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize patient care
• Collaborate with transport providers to address any quality concerns related to patient care during transport
• Participate in ongoing training and education regarding interfacility transport protocols and best practices
  
  

Education

What we need from you

• High School or GED, required
  
  

Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience working with regulatory programs, transportation/patient scheduling, clerical/secretarial/registration, preferred

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking or standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met

Pay Range

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum

USD $18.75/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum

USD $28.12/Hr.
