The Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the sales cycle, estimating project requirements and facilitating presentations to potential clients. As the project progresses into the implementation phase, the PM assumes responsibility for managing risks from technical, contractual, cash flow, and organizational perspectives. This involves selecting subcontractors, defining project timelines, reviewing contracts, and ensuring systems are designed to meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the project team to review proposals, contracts, and new orders for accuracy and commercial/technical issues.
- Estimate and direct internal resources necessary to complete projects successfully.
- Maintain positive cash flow on all projects by following up on past-due invoices with the accounts and business support specialist.
- Publish weekly Project Logs to keep stakeholders informed.
- Monitor budget margins and current forecast margins within 1% of all major projects at all times (typically 2-3 projects).
- Ensure the content, format, and timeliness of all project correspondence and submittals, including drawings, letters, equipment documentation, spare parts lists, and purchase orders.
- Manage the project schedule using electronic Gantt charts for installed projects.
- Provide support to Site Supervisors when needed in the field.
- Pursue PMP certification if not already certified.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 25% overnight travel expected (expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience required.
- Master's, MBA, or PMP certification is a plus.
- 5 years' experience in project management.
- Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing, or packaging is preferred.
- Understanding of basic financial concepts, including project ROI, discounted cash flows, simple and compound interest, and depreciation.
- Proficiency in MS Office software suite, particularly MS Excel.
- MS Project or similar experience is required.
- AutoCAD experience is preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in the US long-term without sponsorship.
