POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of a multi branch Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the Midcoast Maine community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position requires an individual who is a certified belayer, can safely assist, and lead members in climbing/bouldering on the indoor rock wall.
The Climbing Wall Coordinator will work closely with the Programs & Sports Directo and Youth & Family Director to implement high-quality climbing/bouldering programming. This includes overseeing open climb hours, designing engaging programs, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Customer Service & Communication: Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with climbers, addressing inquiries, and collecting feedback on route quality, safety, and other concerns. Promote climbing programs and respond to community needs.
- Staff Supervision & Training: Oversee the Climbing Wall team, including instructors, route setters, monitors, and volunteers. Ensure proper and up to date training.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Manage the Climbing Wall schedule, ensuring adequate staff coverage for classes, open climbs, and special events. Coordinate substitutes as needed.
- Program Development & Implementation: Develop and implement new climbing programs. Oversee daily programming and maintain Open Climb hours.
- Safety & Risk Management: Develop, enforce, and regularly update safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with leadership. Inspect and maintain equipment, ensuring all safety standards are met and documented.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records for volunteer hours, registration forms, belay certifications, and other paperwork. Ensure all necessary documentation is organized and up to date and accessible.
- Climbing Wall Maintenance: Ensure the Climbing Wall and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe for use. Report any facility or equipment issues and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with the Sports & Programs Director and Youth & Family Director, to ensure alignment with organizational goals; report necessary data, including program evaluations and usage statistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Certified belayer (training available on site)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in climbing, including proper use of equipment and safety.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR (training available on site)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable about Y processes and procedures.
- Ability to work with integrity, discretion, and a professional approach.
