Nuclear Verification and Validation Summer 2025 Internship

In this paid internship, you will validate and verify models of pebble reactors using the SCALE toolkit. You will work on benchmarking Monte Carlo models with high packing fractions in pebble bed reactors.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of nuclear reactor designs, computing modeling and simulation, stochastic models, uncertainty analysis, and multiphysics. Experience or coursework in neutronics, numerical analysis, and sensitivity analysis is also desirable. You will be reporting to the Advanced Reactor Technology and Design group. This team works a 9x80 schedule and operates onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. The start date and duration of the internship vary based on project needs and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.

Minimum Requirements:

• Doctorate Degree Program enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying Nuclear Engineering

• A minimum overall (3.0) GPA

• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:

• Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)

• Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)

• PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)

• Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.

• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
