Job Description:
Bay Clinic is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced OBGYN Front Desk Reception team. This position requires an individual with strong multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a busy, patient-centered environment. As an essential member of our team, you will be the first point of contact for patients, managing check-ins/outs, phone calls, and referral processing. Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Check-In & Check-Out: Greet patients warmly, verify personal and insurance information, check patients in and out, and ensure all required documentation is complete.
- Phone Support: Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls professionally, schedule appointments, address patient inquiries, and provide necessary instructions or information.
- Referral Processing: Assist with processing patient referrals, including obtaining necessary documentation and coordinating appointments with specialists or external facilities.
- Appointment Scheduling: Manage appointment scheduling for OBGYN services, ensuring accuracy and optimal patient flow while accommodating scheduling needs.
- Insurance Verification: Assist with insurance verification and coordination of benefits for patients as required.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with general information regarding office policies, procedures, and upcoming appointments.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate patient records, update information as necessary, and assist with various office tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinic staff to ensure an efficient and cohesive patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a front desk or medical office environment, preferably in an OBGYN or similar medical specialty.
Skills:
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage a high volume of patients and phone calls.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance verification, and referral processing.
- Proficiency with medical office software (EMR, scheduling systems, etc.) and basic office equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Summary of Working Conditions: Patient Care
- Position requires the ability to remain stationary for long periods, move around the facility, and communicate effectively to exchange information.
Healthcare Facility Environment:
- Work is primarily indoors within a healthcare facility, with occasional local travel and occasional out-of-area travel.
- Hours and staff scheduling may vary based on operational needs.
- The facility is clean, has a comfortable temperature, and a moderate noise level.
Exposure:
- Exposure to temperature variations, communicable diseases, and potentially escalated patients.
- Frequent close contact with employees and the public.
Equipment and Tools:
- Constant use of office machinery (computer, fax, copier, etc.) and possibly diagnostic tools like blood pressure devices and thermometers.
- May handle a high volume of calls, documentation, and use computer systems for information management.
- May need to use standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Multiple Duties:
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions while staying focused on tasks.
